Navy Day to be celebrated with a grand event at Shanghumugham Beach.

The Indian Navy is set to celebrate Navy Day on December 4 with a grand operational demonstration at Shanghumugham Beach in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, attended by President Droupadi Murmu, the supreme commander of the armed forces. The event, highlighted by Vice Admiral Sameer Saxena, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Naval Command, will showcase the Navy’s formidable power through simulated missile launches, submarine sail-pasts, and aircraft operations, including MiG-29K drills. This year’s celebration marks the 52nd anniversary of the Navy’s pivotal role in Operation Trident during the 1971 Indo-Pak war, reflecting the valor and sacrifice of naval personnel. With 19 war vessels, a submarine, fast-interceptor crafts, and 32 naval aircraft participating, the event aims to not only exhibit the Navy’s multi-domain operational capabilities but also engage the public and enhance awareness of the Navy’s critical role in safeguarding national security along India’s extensive coastline. Such displays are crucial for fostering public support and confidence in the Indian Navy’s readiness to respond to maritime threats, thereby reinforcing the significance of naval power in India’s defense strategy.
