Naidu seeks Navy’s support to develop Visakhapatnam as future city.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of Andhra Pradesh met with Vice Admiral Sanjay Bhalla, the flag officer commanding-in-chief of the Eastern Naval Command, to discuss strengthening collaboration between the state government and the Navy, particularly in enhancing defense-related industries and infrastructure in Visakhapatnam. Naidu envisions Visakhapatnam as a future city that will serve as a hub for knowledge and tourism, emphasizing the importance of integrating naval knowledge into public awareness through initiatives like Navy museums. He expressed readiness to allocate land for various naval projects and encouraged the involvement of defense manufacturing companies and startups, aligning with India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative. The discussions also highlighted the growing interest among the youth in pursuing careers in defense, which is crucial for bolstering local support for naval operations and fostering indigenous shipbuilding and technological advancements. This collaboration is expected to create numerous opportunities for economic growth and reinforce the strategic role of the Indian Navy in the region.
