India and Thailand Conduct Joint Military Exercise 'Maitree' in Meghalaya
India and Thailand are conducting the 14th edition of the joint military exercise ‘Maitree’ in Meghalaya, focusing on company-level counter-terrorist operations in semi-urban terrains. Running from September 1 to September 14, this exercise enhances cooperation and interoperability between the Indian Army, represented by the Madras Regiment, and the Royal Thai Army. The program, part of a military exchange initiated in 2006, includes tactical drills, joint planning, and raiding operations, culminating in a 48-hour validation exercise. This collaboration underscores India’s commitment to strengthening regional security and counter-terrorism efforts through international partnerships, reflecting its strategic approach in a dynamic geopolitical landscape.
