The Indian Navy’s preparations for this year’s Navy Day celebrations at Shanghumugham Beach have been finalized ahead of schedule, moving the event to December 3. The renovation project, costing approximately Rs 14.8 crore, included strengthening 120 meters of shoreline and constructing a 180-meter seawall to counter coastal erosion. Festivities will feature an Operational Demonstration showcasing the Navy’s multi-domain capabilities, involving frontline ships, submarines, and aircraft, reflecting India’s commitment to self-reliance in defense. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to attend as the chief guest, emphasizing the event’s significance in reinforcing India’s strategic posture as a Preferred Security Partner in the Indian Ocean region.
