Putin aims to reduce trade imbalance by increasing Indian imports.

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced plans to address the trade imbalance with India by increasing purchases of agricultural products and medicines, ahead of his visit to India in December for an annual summit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Despite heavy US tariffs on Indian imports, Putin emphasized the longstanding and positive bilateral relations, noting India’s resilience in maintaining oil imports from Russia. He acknowledged the potential for enhanced economic cooperation, addressing logistics and payment bottlenecks as key challenges. This initiative reflects not only economic interests but also the strategic partnership between India and Russia, reinforcing India’s position as a sovereign nation amid external pressures.
