Navy Chief: Blue Economy Could Become India's 2nd IT Sector

During a recent visit to IIT-BHU, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi emphasized India’s maritime reliance, noting that 95% of trade and significant oil and internet data traverse maritime routes. He characterized the blue economy as emerging as a “second IT sector,” promising substantial growth and global influence for India. Admiral Tripathi highlighted the Navy’s crucial role in safeguarding merchant shipping valued at $4 billion, securing trade routes, and providing humanitarian assistance. He urged students to innovate in fields like AI, robotics, and cybersecurity to foster indigenous capabilities for India’s future, echoing Swami Vivekananda’s call for perseverance in achieving national goals. This initiative underscores the Navy’s commitment to integrating technological advancement with national security and economic growth.
