Visitor Numbers Plummet at IAF Heritage Museum in Chandigarh
The IAF Heritage Museum in Chandigarh, launched with great enthusiasm in May 2023, has experienced a significant decline in visitor numbers, dropping from 58,273 in its first eight months to just 22,586 in the first half of 2025. Despite incorporating modern technology like virtual reality and simulators, local interest has waned, with visitors mainly coming from outside the Tricity. Talks for expansion have stalled for over a year, raising concerns about the museum’s long-term viability and its role in promoting the Indian Air Force’s heritage. This trend underscores the need for strategic marketing and engagement to revitalize interest in such national assets.
