Top terrorist infiltration guide 'Samandar Chacha' killed in Gurez
Security forces in the Gurez sector of Bandipora, Jammu and Kashmir, successfully neutralized Bagu Khan, alias “Samandar Chacha,” a notorious terrorist and infiltration guide, during an operation aimed at thwarting infiltration attempts. With over 25 years of experience in facilitating terrorist crossings from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir into India, Khan was linked to more than 100 infiltration attempts, earning him the nickname “human GPS.” The operation, conducted by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police, was initiated based on specific intelligence regarding a potential infiltration bid, resulting in the elimination of Khan and another unidentified terrorist. Post-operation, the security forces continued extensive search operations in the dense forest areas to ascertain if more militants were part of the infiltrating group. Despite the ceasefire established in February 2021, infiltration attempts have persisted, highlighting the enduring threat posed by cross-border terrorism. The success of this operation not only disrupts the operational capabilities of terror networks but also reinforces the commitment of Indian security forces in safeguarding national security. This incident serves as a reminder of the persistent challenges faced by Indian forces in countering terrorism, underscoring the importance of intelligence-led operations and the need for continuous vigilance, especially as winter approaches, when traditional infiltration routes become more difficult to monitor and control.
