Terrorism and Counterterrorism

Drone strike near Indo-Myanmar border kills five NSCN-K militants.

A recent drone strike targeting the insurgent group NSCN-K (Yung Aung) near the India-Myanmar border in Arunachal Pradesh resulted in the deaths of five militants, including bodyguards of a senior leader. This follows an earlier attack on October 16, where insurgents ambushed an Assam Rifles company operating base, injuring two personnel. In response, NSCN-K condemned the drone strikes, alleging civilian casualties, including a man and an 8-year-old girl, and labeling the attacks as violations of international norms. These developments highlight the ongoing tensions in the region and the Indian government’s commitment to counter-terrorism efforts, emphasizing its resolve to address threats from insurgent groups while navigating complex humanitarian concerns.
