Navy inaugurates housing for sailors at Project Seabird Phase IIA in Karwar.

Adm Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff, inaugurated residential accommodation for Senior Sailors and Defence Civilians at the Naval Base in Karwar on October 14, 2025, part of Project Seabird Phase IIA. This initiative includes the construction of eight towers, providing a total of 480 dwelling units to support the housing needs of approximately 10,000 personnel and their families, thereby driving local economic growth. The project will enhance naval capabilities with a new dual-use Naval Air Station and a full-fledged Naval Dockyard, creating 7,000 direct and 25,000 indirect jobs. Furthermore, the project exemplifies India’s commitment to Aatmanirbhar Bharat, sourcing over 90% of materials domestically, while adhering to environmental standards and aiming for an IGBC Gold rating upon completion.
