India Offers Reconstruction Aid for Nepal Post-Gen Z Protests

India has pledged support for the reconstruction of structures damaged during the recent Gen Z protests in Nepal, contingent upon a formal request from the Nepali government. Indian Ambassador Naveen Srivastava expressed this commitment during a meeting with Nepal’s Energy Minister Kulman Ghising, where they also discussed bilateral cooperation in energy and water resources, as well as potential electricity exports from Nepal to India. The protests, which led to significant violence and destruction, resulted in the ousting of Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli and caused substantial loss of life and property. This development underscores India’s proactive stance in regional stability and its commitment to fostering strong ties with Nepal, highlighting the importance of collaborative recovery efforts amidst political upheaval.
