DGCA: Software upgrades for over half of India's A320 planes completed.

Indian airlines, including IndiGo and Air India, are currently undertaking critical software upgrades for more than half of the 338 A320 family aircraft in response to safety concerns raised by Airbus and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The upgrades, necessitated by the potential for intense solar radiation to corrupt flight control data, aim to enhance aircraft safety and have led to operational delays of 60-90 minutes for some flights, although no cancellations have been reported. As of November 29, software modifications have been completed on 189 planes, with all updates expected to conclude by November 30. This extensive software recall is among Airbus’s most significant in its 55-year history, coinciding with a peak travel period and presenting logistical challenges for airlines globally, including American Airlines and Lufthansa. The situation underscores the importance of rigorous safety measures within the aviation sector, as the swift implementation of these upgrades is critical to maintaining public confidence and operational integrity in air travel.
