Army doctors perform 400 eye surgeries in community halls during Operation Drishti.

Army doctors, under the leadership of Maj Gen Sanjay Sharma, have successfully conducted Operation Drishti in Jammu and Kashmir, transforming community halls into sterile operating theatres to perform over 400 intricate eye surgeries within four days. This outreach initiative, conceptualized following a request from Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, achieved the screening of 2,000 individuals, including veterans and local civilians, many of whom had long-neglected cataracts. The operation, led by renowned ophthalmologist Brigadier Sanjay Kumar Mishra, showcased the Army’s commitment to humanitarian service while effectively addressing critical healthcare needs in remote areas, reflecting a compassionate approach amidst the operational complexities of the region.
