Mitra Shakti exercise features IED drills and drone reconnaissance for India-Sri Lanka military cooperation.

Under the Eleventh edition of Exercise Mitra Shakti-2025, India and Sri Lanka are conducting joint military drills from November 10 to 23 in Belagavi, Karnataka. This exercise involves 170 Indian personnel primarily from the Rajput Regiment and 135 Sri Lankan troops from the Gajaba Regiment, along with air force contingents from both nations. Key activities include training on Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), reconnaissance using drones, and joint counter-terrorism operations under the UN mandate, including tactical actions like raids and heliborne missions. The initiative aims to enhance defense cooperation and strengthen bilateral ties between India and Sri Lanka, fostering mutual learning and sharing of best practices in military operations.
