SCO Summit: Ukraine Criticizes Omission of War in Closing Statement

The recent SCO summit in China has drawn criticism from Kyiv for its omission of the Ukraine war in the closing statement, which they describe as a significant oversight given the war’s scale and impact. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry emphasized that issues of global development and security cannot be adequately addressed without acknowledging Russia’s aggression. They also suggested that this omission reflects Moscow’s attempt to create a narrative of divided global opinion regarding the conflict. In this context, Ukraine expresses hope for a more proactive role from China in fostering peace, emphasizing adherence to the UN Charter as crucial for resolving the ongoing crisis.
