During this pivotal gathering, attended by representatives from 18 countries, Jaishankar highlighted the multifaceted challenges faced by these nations due to the COVID-19 pandemic, geopolitical conflicts, and climate change. He underscored the need for reforms in global governance structures, particularly the United Nations, to better reflect the interests of the Global South. Jaishankar advocated for a united approach among these countries, emphasizing shared strengths in areas such as digital technology, climate justice, and sustainable development. He also called for increased South-South cooperation and a collective focus on emerging technologies, especially artificial intelligence, to drive growth. The discussions aimed to enhance solidarity and collaboration, reinforcing India’s role as a prominent advocate for developing nations on the global stage.
