India Faces No Sanctions on Russian Crude Oil Purchases: Puri

Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri affirmed that there are no sanctions on India’s purchase of crude oil from Russia, emphasizing the potential global repercussions if supply chains are disrupted. He highlighted India’s compliance with international sanctions while underscoring that many nations, including members of the EU and Turkey, continue to source oil from Russia. Puri noted that the global oil market is sensitive to price fluctuations, particularly due to the U.S. interest in maintaining stable fossil fuel prices. This situation illustrates India’s strategic positioning amidst geopolitical tensions and its commitment to ensuring energy security while navigating complex international trade dynamics.
