Baltic States Boost Defenses Against Russian GPS Jamming Threats

Baltic states are facing heightened electronic warfare threats from Russia, particularly in the form of GPS jamming that disrupts air and maritime communications. Lithuania reported a 22-fold increase in GPS jamming incidents, which poses risks to civilian transport and military readiness in a region critical for NATO’s security posture. In response, Baltic nations and their allies are seeking international intervention through organizations like the ITU and ICAO while enhancing their own countermeasures. This situation underscores Russia’s aggressive tactics aimed at undermining NATO cohesion, highlighting the need for strengthened defenses and regional cooperation among allied forces, including India’s strategic interest in maintaining stability in its own neighborhood amidst rising geopolitical tensions.
