Turkey and UK Strengthen Strategic Partnership in Drone Development

On November 6, 2025, Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) and BAE Systems of the UK signed a memorandum of understanding to advance collaboration on unmanned aerial systems (UAS), including fixed-wing, rotary, and hybrid platforms. This agreement aims to leverage TAI’s production capabilities and combat-proven UAVs alongside BAE’s expertise in advanced autonomy and market networks, responding to the increasing global demand for UAS in defense. The partnership reflects Turkey’s strategic efforts to enhance its defense industry ties with Europe, following significant defense deals, notably the Eurofighter Typhoon acquisition, and is poised to boost both nations’ technological competitiveness in the evolving geopolitical landscape. This collaboration underscores Turkey’s ambition to become a key player in the UAS sector, reshaping regional defense dynamics.
