Tata Launches Sarvatra Kavach: India's New Bulletproof Suit for Soldiers
Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) has officially launched the Sarvatra Kavach, India’s first indigenous full-body bulletproof suit designed to provide comprehensive 360-degree ballistic protection for soldiers. Developed in collaboration with the Indian Army under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, the suit features lightweight, modular panels, a quick-release system, and advanced composite fibers offering superior protection against sniper rounds and armor-piercing bullets. Lighter and more cost-effective than international counterparts, it enhances operational agility while ensuring high-level safety for personnel in high-risk zones such as Jammu and Kashmir. The successful conclusion of field trials marks Sarvatra Kavach’s readiness for mass production, with induction aimed by 2027. This milestone underscores India’s growing defense manufacturing self-reliance, reducing dependence on imports and strengthening frontline troops with cutting-edge protective gear developed by Major Anoop Mishra and Tata’s defense arm. The introduction of Sarvatra Kavach represents a significant leap in soldier survivability and India’s strategic defense preparedness amid evolving battlefield threats.
