Russia Introduces Izdeliye 177S Engines for India's Stealth Jets
Russia’s United Engine Corporation has unveiled the Izdeliye 177S and 177 engines, designed for next-generation stealth jets, with the former positioned for immediate upgrades to India’s Su-30MKI fleet. The Izdeliye 177S features improved thrust and fuel efficiency, while the advanced Izdeliye 177 aims for future indigenous projects like the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA). Russia is marketing these engines as cost-effective alternatives to Western offerings—reportedly 30% cheaper—boasting established supply chains. This development underscores Russia’s commitment to remaining a key defense partner for India amid evolving geopolitical landscapes, potentially enhancing the Indian Air Force’s aerial capabilities well into the future.
