The Plate Cutting Ceremony for the Indian Coast Guard’s fourth Next Generation Offshore Patrol Vessel (NGOPV) was held at Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd in Mumbai on August 20, 2025. This vessel, part of a series of six, is designed to enhance India’s maritime security with advanced technologies and a range of 5,000 nautical miles. Designed and constructed indigenously, the project aligns with the Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision, showcasing India’s growing defense manufacturing capabilities and commitment to self-reliance. The initiative will significantly bolster the ICG’s operational effectiveness in safeguarding India’s vast maritime interests.
