Indian Army to order 2,408 Nag Mark 2 missiles and 107 NAMICA vehicles.

The Indian Army is set to place a major order for 2,408 Nag Mark 2 anti-tank guided missiles and 107 NAMICA Mk-II tracked missile carriers following the Defence Acquisition Council’s approval of the Acceptance of Necessity on October 23, 2025, as part of a ₹79,000 crore procurement package. Developed by DRDO and manufactured by Bharat Dynamics Limited, the Nag Mark 2 features a tandem-charge high-explosive anti-tank warhead for defeating modern armored threats and operates in all-weather, fire-and-forget mode with top-attack capability. The NAMICA Mk-II, based on the BMP-2 platform, enables rapid deployment across diverse terrains including deserts and mountainous regions. Successful field evaluation trials conducted earlier in 2025 at Pokhran validated the system’s accuracy and operational readiness against both stationary and moving targets at maximum and minimum ranges. This acquisition significantly enhances the Army’s armored standoff capabilities and underscores India’s progress in indigenous defense production under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
