HAL to Play Key Role in Developing 120kN Engine for AMCA
Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has confirmed its significant involvement in the development of a new 120kN thrust engine for the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) program, collaborating with the Gas Turbine Research Establishment (GTRE) and France’s Safran. HAL’s extensive experience as India’s sole jet engine manufacturer uniquely positions it to handle manufacturing, component development, integration, and testing of the new engine. This collaboration is pivotal, as HAL aims to absorb advanced technologies like digital engine control and thrust vectoring, enhancing its capabilities for future indigenous programs. This development underscores India’s commitment to strengthening its defense capabilities while fostering self-reliance in critical aerospace technologies, thereby bolstering national security and strategic autonomy.
