AMCA's Iron Bird Test Facility to be ready by April 2028.

The Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) is making significant progress on India’s Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) program, with plans for an Advanced Iron Bird Test Facility to be operational by April 2028. This facility will enable rigorous testing of the aircraft’s systems before its first flight, targeted for late 2028 or early 2029. With a focus on indigenous development and partnerships, over 80% of the facility’s components will be sourced locally, promoting the growth of India’s aerospace sector. The timely establishment of this facility is crucial as the Indian Air Force faces squadron shortages amid rising border tensions, ensuring that the AMCA can enhance India’s aerial capabilities while creating thousands of jobs in the defense industry.
