Taliban warns Pakistan after failed peace talks, escalating tensions.

Peace talks between Pakistan and Afghanistan in Istanbul have ended without agreement, deepening existing tensions following a series of violent border clashes that have resulted in significant casualties. Afghan officials have accused Pakistan of showing insincerity and unreasonable demands during the negotiations, while Islamabad has consistently blamed Kabul for harboring the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), a militant group that has increased attacks within Pakistan. The Taliban’s spokesperson emphasized Afghanistan’s commitment to defending its sovereignty, asserting that they will not allow their territory to be used against any other nation, despite the challenges posed by Pakistan’s allegations. Following the talks’ collapse, the Pakistani Defense Minister indicated no plans for future discussions, while Afghanistan’s stance remains that it seeks cooperation within its own capacities. This stalemate not only reflects the fragile nature of Afghanistan-Pakistan relations but also raises fears of escalating cross-border violence, which could further destabilize the region and deter prospects for long-term peace and security.
