Geopolitics and Security Alliances

India firmly counters Zardari's Kashmir and Indus Waters claims at international forum.

India has issued a strong rebuttal to former Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari’s claims regarding Kashmir and the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) at an international forum. Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya condemned these allegations as an attempt to divert attention from Pakistan’s development issues and accused Islamabad of undermining the IWT through terrorism and obstruction of India’s water management projects. He emphasized India’s compliance with the treaty and called for Pakistan to focus on its own socio-economic challenges rather than internationalizing bilateral disputes. This exchange underscores the rising tensions between India and Pakistan over territorial and resource management issues, reflecting the broader geopolitical rivalry in the region.
