ISI Relocates Masood Azhar as Jaish-e-Muhammad's Morale Plummets

On August 6, 2025, fresh analysis revealed the Pakistani intelligence agency ISI has been moving Jaish-e-Muhammad chief Masood Azhar across a series of safe houses following India’s high-impact Operation Sindoor, which took place in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. Intelligence reports confirm Azhar was shifted from his long-time Bahawalpur base to covert locations, including Gilgit-Baltistan and possibly Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, due to concerns over his safety after Indian airstrikes devastated nine key terror camps, including Jaish-e-Muhammad facilities, and resulted in over 100 militant casualties and heavy leadership losses. The group’s morale is reportedly at an all-time low, prompting a wave of propaganda to falsely suggest Azhar remains in Bahawalpur in an attempt to steady the rank and file. This security crackdown by Indian forces was credited with fundamentally disrupting Jaish’s operational capacity. Amid regional and diplomatic fallout, including a brief ceasefire on May 10 after mutual hostilities, Indian officials reaffirmed their commitment to robust counter-terror measures as Islamabad denied harboring Azhar, while fresh intelligence continues to track his movements amidst growing international scrutiny.
