NIA charges five Maoists in murder of Army soldier in Chhattisgarh

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a supplementary chargesheet against five members of the banned CPI (Maoist) in connection with the murder of Indian Army soldier Motiram Achala in Kanker district, Chhattisgarh, in February 2023. The soldiers were ambushed at a village fair, and the accused were identified as overground workers and armed cadres of the Maoist outfit. This attack, viewed as part of a broader conspiracy to instill fear among local communities, highlights the ongoing threat of Maoist insurgency in the region. The NIA’s decisive action reflects India’s commitment to countering terrorism and ensuring the safety of its armed forces and civilians.
