DRDO's TDF Project to Develop Indigenous Reusable Aerial Target for IAF Training
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has initiated a groundbreaking project under its Technology Development Fund (TDF) to create a reusable High-Speed Expendable Aerial Target (HEAT), enhancing the Indian Air Force’s (IAF) training capabilities while supporting the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative. This innovative platform will simulate modern fighter aircraft profiles, improving weapon testing and engagement training while reducing dependence on costly imported systems. With advanced features like adjustable Radar Cross Section and multi-role capabilities, the HEAT aims to optimize operational preparedness for various systems, including the Akash and Barak-8. By fostering collaboration with private industry, this project promises to significantly bolster India’s self-reliance in defense technology.
