Terrorism and Counterterrorism

Three Terrorist Associates Arrested with Weapons in Handwara

Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir apprehended three terrorist associates linked to handlers based in Pakistan during a joint operation in Handwara’s Qalamabad area. The arrested individuals, identified as Mohd Iqbal Pandith, Sajad Ahmad Shah, and Ishfaq Ahmad Malik, were found in possession of a pistol, ammunition, and incriminating materials. This operation was part of a broader strategy to counter terrorism in the region, especially following recent incidents of infiltration attempts along the Line of Control, which resulted in the loss of Indian soldiers. The ongoing Operation Akhal has seen significant action, leading to the elimination of several terrorists and highlighting the Indian Armed Forces’ proactive measures in ensuring national security. The joint efforts of the Jammu and Kashmir police, the Indian Army, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) underscore the collaborative approach in tackling terrorism, a persistent threat in the region. This incident not only showcases the commitment of Indian security forces to maintain peace and security but also serves as a reminder of the ongoing challenges posed by cross-border terrorism and the importance of intelligence-driven operations in mitigating such threats.
