Three Naxalites killed in Sukma; 2023 Maoist deaths reach 262.

In a significant counterinsurgency operation in Sukma, Chhattisgarh, police forces have killed three Naxalites, bringing the total number of Maoist casualties in the state this year to 262. The encounter, initiated by the District Reserve Guard based on intelligence reports, reflects the intensified efforts of security forces to dismantle Maoist strongholds in the volatile Bastar region. Notably, 233 of these fatalities occurred in seven districts within Bastar, underscoring the area’s role as a stronghold for extremist activities. Increased coordination between central and state forces, alongside intelligence-driven operations, has led to record-high Maoist casualties, contributing to the broader objective of restoring peace and normalcy in regions previously affected by insurgent violence.
