Terrorism and Counterterrorism

Terrorists adapt winter tactics in J&K, prompting intensified Indian operations.

Indian security forces are intensifying operations in Jammu and Kashmir to counter a notable shift in terrorist activity, as around 30-35 Jaish-e-Mohammad operatives have opted to operate in harsh winter conditions, a departure from their usual behavior. The terrorists’ decision to isolate themselves at higher altitudes, away from local support, reflects a desperate strategy amidst heightened military pressure and a crippling of their infrastructure due to Operation Sindoor. Despite challenging weather, the Indian Army has adopted a proactive stance, establishing snowbound bases and maintaining vigilance against infiltration from Pakistan. This change in tactics highlights the ongoing complexities in counter-terrorism efforts in the region, underscoring the need for persistent alertness and adaptive strategies by Indian forces.
