In a significant counter-insurgency operation, security forces, including the Army and Assam Rifles, engaged and neutralized ULFA-I cadre Iwon Axom, a self-styled Sergeant Major, in Arunachal Pradesh’s Namsai district during the early hours following credible intelligence inputs about militant presence. The operation, which resulted in the recovery of a rifle, a rocket-propelled grenade round, and various materials, was part of a broader coordinated effort to dismantle remaining ULFA-I modules along the inter-state border between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
