Terrorism and Counterterrorism

Punjab Police arrest ISI-linked operatives planning grenade attacks.

Punjab Police recently apprehended two operatives, Deepak alias Deepu and Ram Lal, linked to an ISI-backed terror module, who were allegedly planning grenade attacks on government buildings in Ludhiana. The arrests, which followed an exchange of gunfire, revealed a coordinated effort by Pakistan-based handlers to recruit criminals from different states, complicating identification efforts. The police seized two Chinese hand grenades, five sophisticated pistols, and over 40 live rounds during the operation. This incident underscores a troubling trend of inter-state criminal involvement in terror activities, threatening stability in Punjab and highlighting the need for enhanced vigilance and intelligence-sharing among security agencies.
