NIA arrests Haryana MBBS student for alleged terror links in West Bengal.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has recently apprehended an MBBS student from Al-Falah University, Janisur Alam, in West Bengal for purported connections to terror groups following the deadly blast near the Red Fort in Delhi, which resulted in thirteen fatalities. His arrest, occurring during a return trip from a family wedding, involved surveillance through mobile location data, although specifics regarding his alleged involvement remain undisclosed. Concurrently, two doctors from the same university—Mohammad and Mustakim—were detained in connection with a broader terror module, reportedly linked to the driver of the vehicle that detonated near the Red Fort. The investigation has uncovered that the doctors maintained contact with other arrested individuals and included inquiries into a third faculty member, Dr. Shaheen Sayeed, whose recent passport application is under scrutiny for potential ties to the group’s activities. This situation underscores the alarming integration of educated professionals in terror-related networks, raising concerns about the misuse of academic institutions for facilitating recruitment and logistical support in terror operations, thus posing significant challenges to national security.
