Nepali Man Arrested for Supplying SIM Cards to ISI for Espionage

A Nepali man, Chaurasiya, has been arrested for supplying Indian SIM cards to Pakistan’s ISI, reportedly lured by promises of a U.S. visa and job opportunities. He acquired 16 SIM cards using fraudulent Aadhaar credentials and smuggled them to Pakistan, where they were used to contact Indian Army personnel and facilitate espionage against sensitive defense establishments like DRDO. This case underscores the vulnerabilities in India’s telecom identity-verification systems and highlights how espionage through seemingly innocuous means poses a serious threat to national security, necessitating a robust response from Indian law enforcement and intelligence agencies to dismantle such networks and enhance security measures.
