Lucknow Doctor’s Arrest Exposes Academic Radicalisation Cell

The arrest of Dr. Shaheen Sayeed, a Lucknow-based physician linked to the Faridabad explosives case, has thrown light on a disturbing trend of radicalisation within academic institutions. Investigators discovered she was in contact with Dr. Muzammil Ahmad, another Kashmiri doctor under investigation for terror financing. Both allegedly provided logistical and medical assistance to JeM operatives while working at Al-Falah Medical College. Dr. Shaheen’s father, a retired government servant, expressed disbelief, insisting on her innocence. However, NIA sources confirmed her Telegram handle matched communication logs from the blast planners. Over 52 staff and students are being interrogated amid suspicions that at least two professors aided in recruitment. This case, tied to the Red Fort blast, has sparked debate about campus radicalisation and the misuse of educational environments by extremist ideologues posing as mentors. Law enforcement agencies are considering new screening measures for foreign-funded academic programs.
