India Warns Nationals Against Joining Russian Army Amid Recruitment Risks

India has issued a strong advisory against its nationals joining the Russian Army, following reports of Indians being recruited under false pretenses for combat roles in Ukraine. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed that it had raised the issue with Russian authorities and is in contact with the families of affected individuals. Two Indians claimed they were lured for construction jobs but found themselves on the frontline instead, with at least 13 others in similar situations. The MEA reiterated its warning for citizens to avoid such dangerous offers, emphasizing the inherent risks involved. This action underscores India’s commitment to protecting its citizens abroad.
