Terrorism and Counterterrorism

India warns NAM members: terrorism support will have severe consequences.

At the 19th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Mid-Term Ministerial Meeting, India asserted the need for zero tolerance towards terrorism, emphasizing that any support or cover-up would eventually have repercussions for those responsible. Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh highlighted India’s long history as a victim of terrorism, specifically referencing the recent attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir. He criticized certain member states, implicitly naming Pakistan and China, for defending terrorist entities. Singh called for a reformed multilateralism and stressed the importance of collaboration among nations to address global issues, including terrorism and climate change. This stance underscores India’s commitment to international cooperation and its leadership role within the Global South in combatting shared threats.
