Delhi HC dismisses Hizbul chief's sons' plea on terror funding charges.

The Delhi High Court on December 23, 2025, dismissed appeals by Shahid Yousuf and Syed Ahmad Shakeel, sons of Pakistan-based Hizbul Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin, challenging a 2021 trial court order framing charges in an NIA terror funding case. The bench of Justices Vivek Chaudhary and Manoj Jain ruled the pleas unmaintainable under Section 21 of the NIA Act, as the case originated from a 2011 probe into funds transferred via hawala and Western Union by Pakistan-based terrorists to fuel secessionist and terrorist activities in Jammu and Kashmir. Shahid Yousuf was arrested in October 2017 for receiving funds from Hizbul operatives abroad, while Shakeel was detained in August 2018 for transactions linked to absconding accused Aijaz Ahmad Bhat and Saudi Arabia-based cadres. This verdict reinforces India’s resolute efforts to dismantle cross-border terror financing networks threatening national integrity in the region.
