Amit Shah urges remaining Naxals to surrender or face security forces.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced the successful declaration of two regions in Chhattisgarh—Abujhmarh and North Bastar—as free from Naxal terror, while urging remaining insurgents to surrender or face security forces’ wrath. Notably, 170 Naxalites surrendered recently, contributing to a total of 258 renouncing violence over two days. Shah emphasized the Modi government’s commitment to eradicating Naxalism by March 2026, highlighting that since January 2024, 2,100 Naxalites have surrendered and 1,785 have been arrested. This development not only marks significant progress in India’s internal security but also reflects a broader strategy to reintegrate former militants into society, demonstrating the government’s resolve in combating left-wing extremism and restoring peace in affected regions.
