Congress Criticizes Modi as Pakistan Secures US Missile Deal

The recent inclusion of Pakistan in the US Department of Defence’s list of recipients for Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAMs) has prompted criticism from the Congress party, which claims it signals a diplomatic setback for the Modi government. Congress communications chief Jairam Ramesh highlighted concerns over Pakistan’s growing military ties with the US and Russia, particularly regarding engine supplies for Pakistan’s JF-17 fighter jets. However, Russian experts argue that these developments could enable India to better understand its rival’s capabilities, potentially offering tactical advantages. This situation underscores the complexity of India’s diplomatic landscape as it strives to balance relationships with global powers while addressing security challenges posed by Pakistan, thereby reinforcing the need for a robust and adaptive defense strategy.
