Amit Shah assures timely restoration of Jammu and Kashmir's statehood.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced that statehood for Jammu and Kashmir will be restored at an appropriate time, emphasizing the positive changes following the abrogation of Article 370, which has led to a decline in local terrorism. Shah noted that democratic processes, including local elections, have resumed in the region. He addressed concerns regarding the delay in restoring statehood, suggesting that discussions would take place with political leaders like Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. Furthermore, he asserted that the government’s efforts against Maoist insurgency have been significant, aiming to completely eradicate it by the end of 2026. This commitment reflects the government’s focus on improving security and governance in conflict-affected areas, thereby reinforcing national integration and stability.
