In a tragic incident in Bhopal, two Indian Navy kayakers, including Asia Cup gold medallist Chief Petty Officer Vishnu Raghunathan, lost their lives following a collision with a speeding truck while riding a motorcycle to practice at a naval training camp. The accident occurred near the Mubarakpur Toll Plaza in the early hours of Sunday, with the truck fleeing the scene. Both victims were wearing helmets, but the impact was fatal. Raghunathan, a distinguished athlete recognized for his achievements in kayaking, was only 27 years old and had recently garnered accolades, including a gold medal in the 1000m K-2 event. The incident underscores the vulnerabilities faced by military personnel even outside their professional duties and raises concerns about road safety.
