Twenty-three Ukrainian children rescued from Russian-occupied areas
Twenty-three Ukrainian children and adolescents have been successfully rescued from Russian-occupied territories and brought to areas under Kyiv’s control, according to Andriy Yermak, chief of staff to President Volodymyr Zelenskiy. This operation is part of the “Bring Kids Back UA” initiative aimed at returning children forcibly displaced to Russia or confined in occupied areas. Yermak highlighted that among the rescued were siblings who resisted attending Russian schools, facing intimidation from occupying authorities. Ukraine claims over 19,500 children have been illegally deported by Russia, with some estimates suggesting the figure may reach 35,000. This humanitarian crisis underscores the severe implications of the ongoing conflict and the urgent need for international attention and action to protect vulnerable populations.
