Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi dismissed allegations of mass casualties as politically motivated misinformation, pointing fingers at the Bharatiya Janata Party for spreading fear among the public. In response to the heavy rains and landslides that affected the region, the state successfully executed a massive rescue operation, evacuating 99% of the pilgrims stranded in Bharmour, with over 10,000 individuals rescued via helicopters and road transport. The Indian Air Force’s MI-17 helicopters played a crucial role in this operation, airlifting 588 people over two days, demonstrating the effective collaboration between state authorities and military assets during crises. Additionally, the Kangra Airport extended support to military operations, highlighting the importance of infrastructure in ensuring timely relief efforts in remote areas.
