RBI directs banks to shift to .bank.in domains by 2025.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has mandated that all Indian banks transition their net banking website addresses to the new exclusive domain .bank.in by October 31, 2025, as part of an initiative to enhance cybersecurity and bolster public trust in digital banking. Major banks, including State Bank of India, HDFC Bank, and ICICI Bank, have already begun this migration process. The RBI’s directive aims to mitigate cyber threats and fraudulent activities, with operational support from the Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology (IDRBT). This strategic shift underscores the RBI’s commitment to secure financial services, marking a significant step in the evolution of India’s digital banking landscape and reinforcing the integrity of online transactions.
