Private sector in navigation boosts India’s 2027 vision, says ISRO chief.
On November 25, 2025, ISRO Chairman V. Narayanan expressed optimism about the growing role of India’s private sector in developing advanced navigation systems, critical for both spacecraft and defense applications. Speaking after inaugurating a Centre of Excellence in Navigation by Hyderabad-based Ananth Technologies in Thiruvananthapuram, he highlighted this move as integral to reducing India’s reliance on imported navigation technology and cutting costs through indigenous production. Narayanan emphasized that navigation systems are highly complex and cannot be developed by ISRO alone, making private sector involvement essential. This initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India by 2047, aiming for full strategic autonomy in Positioning, Navigation, and Timing technologies. The Centre will focus on cutting-edge technologies, including inertial and quantum sensors and AI-driven navigation algorithms, working closely with ISRO, DRDO, and BrahMos. ISRO also plans to launch its first private PSLV-N1 rocket in the current financial year, marking a significant step for India’s space ambitions.
