President Murmu to fly Rafale jet, reinforcing India's defense leadership.
President Droupadi Murmu is set to undertake a sortie in a Rafale fighter jet at the Indian Air Force’s Ambala base on October 29, 2023, following a previous engagement in which she flew the Sukhoi-30 MKI in April 2023. This event marks a significant reaffirmation of her role as the Supreme Commander of the Indian Armed Forces and underscores India’s commitment to enhancing its defense capabilities. Accompanying the President will be Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh and other senior IAF officials, highlighting the strategic importance of this sortie. The Rafale aircraft, known for its advanced technology and combat effectiveness, was officially inducted into the Indian Air Force in September 2020, specifically with the No. 17 Squadron based in Ambala, which has played a crucial role in operations such as Operation Sindoor post the Pahalgam terror attack. This demonstration of high-level engagement with cutting-edge air power not only serves to boost morale within the armed forces but also sends a strong message about India’s preparedness and capability in the current geopolitical landscape, particularly in the context of regional security dynamics and the ongoing need for robust defense mechanisms.
